# Display Prices With & Without Tax

With tax rules varying across regions and customer types, clarity in pricing is crucial. A **Tax Display** rule shows product prices **including tax**, **excluding tax** or **both**, to the customers, products and pages you pick. You can also let customers switch between the two.

## Before You Start

* Go to **B2B tax & currency › Tax Display** and make sure the switch next to the **Tax Display** title is **On**. When it is off, your rules are saved but customers don't see them.
* The header shows the **Settings** and **Storefront setup** buttons. **Translations** is under **More actions**. **Guide** opens the in-app Help center topic for this page. See [Navigate the app](/b2b-wholesale-solution/getting-started/navigate-the-app.md) for how module pages work.

## Step 0: Sync Your Tax Rates from Shopify

Tax Display works out prices with and without tax from the tax rates it copies from Shopify.

1. Click **Settings** at the top of Tax Display.
2. Under **Sync with Taxes and duties settings**, click **Sync from Shopify**.
3. Sync again whenever you change **Settings › Taxes and duties** in Shopify.

**Only if you use tax overrides in Shopify:** Shopify doesn't share overrides with apps, so add the same ones here. Under **Tax overrides (only if you use them in Shopify)** click **Show countries**, edit the country, click **Add a tax override**, pick the collection, enter the **Tax rate** and click **Add override**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Every collection you override should contain different products. If a product is in two overridden collections, the standard country rate is used for it.
{% endhint %}

## How to Create a Tax Display Rule

Click **Add rule** (or **Add tax display rule** if you have no rules yet). The **New tax display rule** page is one page of cards: **Rule**, **Customers**, **Products**, **Price display**, **Show on** and **Advanced** (collapsed, click **Show**). The **Make Tax Display live** card on the right shows the **Not live yet / Live** badge and a preview updates as you change the design.

### Rule

| Field | Options | What it does |
| ---------- | ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| **Name** | Text | Name to find the rule later. |

### Show on

Choose **All pages**, **Product page**, **Cart** or **Product lists (collections, search, featured and related products)**.

### Let customers switch (optional)

1. Set **Products** to **All products** and **Show on** to **All pages**.
2. Set **Display price type** to **Let customers switch (all products and pages)**. This option only appears with those two settings.
3. A switch with **Inc. VAT** and **Exc. VAT** appears at the bottom-left of every storefront page and starts on **Inc. VAT**. The choice is remembered for the browser session and prices update on product pages, collections and the cart.
4. To rename the labels, open **More actions › Translations** and edit **Tax toggle labels**. To move the switch, click **Contact support** on the rule page.

### Advanced

Click **Show** to open it. Set **Priority** (0 = highest) if several rules can match the same customer and product. The lowest number wins; with equal numbers the oldest rule wins.

### Save and go live

Click **Save**. Use the **Make Tax Display live** card to confirm the rule is enabled and the module and the app embed are on.

## Quick Create

Click **Quick create** to add several rules in one go. Each row asks for who it applies to (all or a customer tag) and a display type (**Both**, **Including tax only**, **Excluding tax only** or **Toggle**). Quick rules apply to all products and all pages.

## Quick edit

To change a rule's **Rule name**, **Priority**, **Status** or **Applies to** without opening it, click **Quick edit** in the rule's row actions. Select several rules and choose **Edit status** to turn them on or off together.

**Applies to** lets you switch the rule to **Customers with tag**, **Specific customers**, **All customers** or **Logged-in customers**. If the rule currently targets someone else, for example guests, the first choice is **Keep current** so nothing changes. Guests, company locations and exclusions are left as they are; change those in the full rule form.

## Translations

Open **More actions › Translations** to edit **Tax display labels** (for example the default `exc. VAT |` after the price without tax, so the `|` is part of the label) and **Tax toggle labels** (`Inc. VAT`, `Exc. VAT`). Click **Add language** for each store language. An empty label falls back to the default.

## Storefront Setup

Click **Storefront setup**. Make sure the module and the app embed are on. Most themes work as is; open your storefront to check the price. If it doesn't change, chat with us and our team will set it up for free. Manual installation (theme snippets) is available there for themes that need it.

## What Your Customers See

* Product pages, collections and the cart show prices with tax, without tax, both, or the **Inc. VAT / Exc. VAT** switch, based on the rule and the customer.
* At checkout, tax is calculated from your Shopify settings, independent of how prices were displayed.
* The Volume Pricing table always lists each tier with both prices when a Tax Display rule applies to the product.

## FAQ

**Prices with and without tax show the same amount.** The app uses the visitor's country rate copied from Shopify, and only for products that are taxable in Shopify. Click **Sync from Shopify** and check the product charges tax.

**Is my B2B price treated as including or excluding tax?** The same as your Shopify prices. If Shopify includes tax in prices, so do the prices you enter in B2B Solution.

**My theme still shows "Taxes included" under the price.** That line comes from your theme and Shopify. Contact support and we can hide it for customers who see Tax Display prices.
