FAQs
1. Why doesn’t the Lock rule work on my storefront?
There are several possible reasons:
The rule priority may be incorrect — a higher-priority rule could be overriding the one you expect.
The rule is not applied to the current customer type (for example, logged-in vs guest).
The rule was created but not published.
Theme caching may prevent the lock from updating immediately.
How to fix:
Double-check the target condition (customer tag, page type, product group).
Reorder your rules to ensure the correct one is on top.
Click Publish after any edits.
Refresh your storefront or clear cache if you use a theme app extension.
2. Why does the price still show even after I set “Hide Price”?
Possible reasons:
The “Hide Price” rule is active, but the theme displays price in custom elements not covered by default selectors.
The rule doesn’t apply to the correct customer segment (for instance, logged-in users when you intended for guests).
Solution:
Contact support to manually add the hiding script to your theme’s custom price selectors.
Test on both incognito mode and logged-in customer accounts to confirm visibility behavior.
3. How do I lock specific pages or collections instead of the whole site?
When creating a new lock rule:
Choose Lock Type = Page / Collection / Product.
Select the specific items to lock.
Set your desired unlock condition — e.g., logged-in users, customers with a certain tag, or password access.
Save and publish the rule.
Tip: Multiple locks can be combined to cover different sections with unique access levels.
4. Why do I see the lock message for all customers?
That usually happens when:
The lock rule is set to “All visitors” instead of a specific group.
The unlock condition is not recognized (for example, an invalid tag or password mismatch).
Fix: Edit your rule → adjust the Target audience → select the right condition (e.g., “Only logged-in customers” or “Tagged customers”). Save and republish the rule.
5. Can I show different messages to different customer groups?
Yes! You can create multiple lock rules, each with its own custom lock message or redirect link. For example:
One message for guests (“Please log in to see prices”).
Another message for unapproved wholesale customers (“Your account is under review”).
Each rule can display its own message depending on the conditions you set.
6. How do I unlock content with a password?
If you choose Password Access as your lock type:
Set the password in the rule.
Share that password with customers who should have access.
When visitors open a locked page, they’ll see the password form.
Once they enter the correct password, the page becomes visible until the session ends.
You can use multiple password locks for different content groups if needed.
7. Can I hide the “Add to Cart” button without locking the whole page?
Yes. In the Hide Price and Add to Cart settings:
Toggle Hide Add to Cart for specific customers or guest users.
You can still display the product and description while disabling checkout actions.
This is useful if you want to display catalogs without direct purchasing options.
8. Why can’t my new lock rule be found on the storefront?
This may happen when:
The rule is saved but unpublished.
The rule targets a page not yet synced with the current theme.
You recently changed your Shopify theme, and the embedded code wasn’t migrated.
Fix: Go to the app dashboard → Re-embed the app block → Publish again → Refresh the storefront.
9. How does rule priority work?
Rule priority determines which lock applies first if multiple rules target the same resource.
The rule at the top of the list takes precedence.
You can reorder rules using the drag-and-drop interface in the dashboard.
Example: If Rule A (Hide Price) and Rule B (Password Lock) both apply to the same product, whichever is higher in the list will be executed.
10. Can I use Lock & Hide Price on a B2C store?
Absolutely! Even if your store serves both retail and wholesale customers, you can use:
Tags to apply B2B-only locks or hide prices only from guests.
Show normal prices for retail customers while keeping B2B content private.
This hybrid setup is ideal for stores operating in both B2B and B2C markets.
11. Why does my redirect not work properly?
Check that:
The redirect URL begins with
https://
and points to a valid Shopify page. The target page is public or accessible to the right audience.
There are no other lock rules conflicting with the redirect logic.
If all settings are correct, re-save the rule and republish to apply.
12. Does the app support Shopify Markets or multi-domain stores?
Yes, but you may need separate rules per market:
Each domain or market can have its own access logic (use “Target URL contains” for specific subdomains).
The lock condition works consistently across all markets once embedded in the active theme.
