Convert Cart to Quote
This feature allows your customers to turn their entire shopping cart into a quote request with a single click.
Often, B2B buyers or bulk purchasers add items to their cart like a standard shopper. If they decide later that they need to negotiate the price or confirm stock, this feature lets them move those items directly into a Quote Basket without starting over. It simplifies the process and saves the sale.
1. How it works
You can enable this option within your Quote Logic settings.
Setup: Go to Request for Quote > Quote Logic. When editing a logic set, look under the Prices & Buttons tab and check the box for Cart Page in the Display quote button section.
Customer Experience: A generic "Add to Quote" button will appear on the cart page next to the checkout button.
Smart Validation: The system automatically checks the items in the cart against your active logic:
All items are eligible: If every item in the cart matches your logic, they are instantly transferred to the quote request form, and a success message appears.
Mixed items: If the cart contains products that cannot be quoted based on your logic, the app will show a pop-up message. The customer can choose to "Continue" (moving only the eligible items to the quote) or "Return to cart".
Tip: To customize the button text or warning messages, go to Translations > Request for Quote. Look for the Cart Page section to edit the button label and the pop-up messages
2. Typical use cases
Scenario
Description
The "Hesitant" Wholesale Buyer
A manager adds 50 high-value units to the cart but realizes the total is over their credit limit or requires a discount. Instead of abandoning the cart, they click "Add to Quote" to open a negotiation without losing their item list.
The Mixed Shopper (Smart Validation)
A customer adds a "Made-to-Order" sofa (requires quote) and a standard cleaning kit (direct buy) to the cart. When they convert to quote, the system warns them. They click "Continue", and the system intelligently moves only the sofa to the quote, leaving the cleaning kit for later.
The "Inventory Check" Buyer
An event planner needs 200 chairs for a wedding next week but is afraid to pay $10,000 without stock confirmation. They convert the cart to a quote with a note: "Can you ship by Friday?" This lets you check your warehouse before taking their money.
The Corporate Approval
A junior employee shops for office supplies but doesn't have the company credit card. They fill the cart, convert it to a quote, and submit it. They can then take the official quote email (or PDF) to their manager for approval and payment.
Enabling "Convert Cart to Quote" is a powerful way to reduce cart abandonment for complex or high-value orders. By giving customers a flexible bridge between browsing and buying, you capture leads that might otherwise leave your site. It ensures that even if a customer isn't ready to pay instantly, you still receive their order intent and can close the deal offline.
