Import Customers

You can create a customer/wholesaler account by importing their information. This is helpful when you need to create accounts for your wholesalers without doing it manually.

Step 1: Head to Import Customers

From Customer management, choose Registration forms > Registration management, hit the Import button

Step 2: Import file

  • First, please choose a registration form that you want to use

  • Second, it is optional for you to download the sample file to see which columns and their title should be included in the file

  • Third, add the file from your device. Customer file data should follow the instructions below:

  1. The file type must be .csv or .xlsx

  2. first_name is your customer's first name

  3. last_name is your customer's last name

  4. email should be unique and should not exist in the system. The email format is abc@example.com

  5. tag: tags given to this customer account

    • It should be less than 40 characters (according to Shopify's requirement)

    • You can add multiple tags, and separate them by a comma (",")

  6. tax_exempt: fill in whether you want to charge tax on this account or not

    • yes: If you want to

    • no: If you do not want

    • It should contain your country phone code (i.e: +1 for USA)

    • It should not exist on the Shopify database

  7. company is your customer company info (i.e company's name)

  8. address is your customer's address.

  9. city is your customer's city

  10. country_code is the international code of your customer's country (i.e: VN is the country code of Viet Nam)

  11. state_code: fill in your customer's state/province/emirate/region/governorate

  12. zip is your customer's zip code

  13. apartment is your customer's apartment info

  14. vat validation: fill in your customer's valid EU VAT ID

  15. uk validation: fill in your customer's valid UK VAT ID

  16. us_ein_validation: fill in your customer's valid US EIN ID

  17. abn_validation fill in your customer's valid ABN ID

  18. gst_validation fill in your customer's valid GST ID

  19. subscribe_to_our_newsletter fill in whether this customer account would subscribe to your newsletter or not

    • yes: If it would

    • no: If it would not

  20. dropdown_selection(s): fill in the value of the option that you've set

  21. multiple_checkbox: fill in the value (s) of the option(s) that you've set, and separate them with the slash symbol ("/")

  22. text_field fill in any the customer's data according to your form setup

  23. text_area fill in any the customer's data according to your form setup

The Password field was remove from the imported customer data

  • Validate VAT:

    • Tick if you'd like to validate all VAT IDs filled in the file

    • Untick if you only need to collect your customers' VAT ID without validating it.
